Officer David Hammond - 2B3 has been with the Montpelier Police Department since 1998. During his career he has specialized in the field of drug enforcement and drug abuse in the community. He has extensive training in drug detection and drug identification. He is one of only a handful of officers in the State of Idaho to be "Lab Certified" in the crime scene processing and dismantle of clandestine methamphetamine labs. His training has taken him from California to the Federal training centers in Quantico, Virginia where he has been trained by national experts in the field of drug enforcement.

In 2004 Officer Hammond was partnered with "Bob," his police K-9. Officer Hammond and Bob are certified in multiple states as a drug interdiction team. They both work hard to keep our community safe from drugs and drug abuse. They also perform regular community service teaching in our schools and working with our youth to recognize and avoid the dangers of drugs. Officer Hammond and his K-9 partner are happy to be serving the citizens of Montpelier and Bear Lake County. If you have any questions about the K-9 program or drug abuse in our community please contact Officer Hammond. He is always willing to help out.
