Chief Greg Butler - 2B1 has been a police officer for over 23 years. He started his career in 1986 with the Bountiful, Utah Police Department where he worked until hired by the West Jordan, Utah Police Department in October 1988. He retired from the West Jordan Police department in October 2008 when he accepted the position of Chief of Police with the Montpelier, Idaho police department. He has worked and supervised in all areas of policing including: investigations bureau, patrol division, traffic unit, SWAT team, field training (FTO), gang unit, code enforcement, crime prevention, community policing, homeland security, training division and was a mobile field force commander during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Chief Butler is also an adjunct professor at Salt Lake Community College in the criminal justice department. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Columbia College and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Utah. In addition, he holds over 100 specialized training and instructor certifications. Chief Butler is married with three children and is happy to call Idaho his new home.
